Aerosol

An Aerosol is an aerial suspension of particles that are so small they show little or no tendency to separate out through sedimentation. The particles may be solid, as in a smoke for example, or liquid, as in a fog.
The relevance of aerosols to safety is that very small particles are more readily aspirated deep into the lungs, from where they are less likely to be removed.
